Fairy tale opera "Hänsel und Gretel" to be staged at KU
University Theatre and the School of Music at the University of Kansas are staging Engelbert Humperdinck's 19th century fairy tale opera "Hänsel und Gretel" with a modern twist.

KU students and faculty experience music outreach with Eutin, Germany
Five graduate students from the University of Kansas traveled with the dean of the School of Music and the director of KU's symphony orchestra to perform in Eutin, Germany, Lawrence's sister city on January 15. Eutin delegates then visited Lawrence in April to visit with Professor David Neely about future exchanges with the sister cities, including an opportunity for music students to travel to Eutin in July to perform "Hänsel und Gretel."

KU School of Music wraps first annual Scholarship Concert at Lied Center--Symphony Orchestra and Choirs perform "Elijah"
The KU School of Music presented the 1st annual School of Music Scholarship Concert, featuring the KU Symphony Orchestra and Choirs performing Mendelssohn's "Elijah" at the Lied Center on Tuesday, March 29, 2011, 7:30 pm.

Fulbright award

A KU School of Music student has won a coveted Fulbright scholarship for study abroad and another was named an alternate for the 2011-12 academic year. Read more.

KU music students scored big at this year's Naftzger Young Artist competition, taking home numerous prizes, including the grand prize. Read more.
