Best Buy’s chief ethics officer to give Sutton Ethics Lecture
The School of Business is pleased to announce Best Buy’s Chief Ethics Officer Kathleen Edmond as the 2010 Sutton Ethics Lecture speaker. The lecture will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 24, in the Woodruff Auditorium at the Kansas Union. The lecture is free and open to the public.
Business concepts prepare U.S. Army colonels to lead thousands
"Being able to rub shoulders with these people who are genuinely real heroes is amazing," said KU School of Business lecturer Tom Jindra when reflecting on his recent work with active U.S. Army colonels in Fort Leavenworth, Kan. The school has begun a pilot program which will run through June 2010.
Business students learn valuable skills in 2010 Leadership Challenge
Twenty-seven School of Business students participated in the 2010 Leadership Challenge, an annual leadership seminar hosted by the KU business and engineering schools. The seminar helps students develop their leadership potential through interactive workshops and exercises.
Two School of Business professors receive distinguished nomination
KU School of Business professors Audra Boone and Kissan Joseph have been nominated for the Byron T. Schutz Award for Excellence in Teaching, one of the Chancellor’s Distinguished Teaching Awards. "The nomination validates the efforts I’m making in the classroom," said Audra Boone, associate professor of finance.

Alumnus helps build start-up with passion
"Passion is what drives most entrepreneurship and it’s infectious," said KU School of Business alumnus Brooks Morgan. Morgan graduated with his Bachelors of Science in Finance and Entrepreneurship in May 2009, and by that time he had already begun to put his passion for entrepreneurship to work.

Law student sings national anthem at KU men’s basketball game
First-year law student Benjamin Winters sang the national anthem before a crowd of more than 16,000 at the KU men’s basketball game against Iowa State on Feb. 13 at Allen Fieldhouse.
Professor appointed chair of Kansas Crime Victims Compensation Board
Suzanne Valdez, clinical associate professor of law, will serve a two-year term on the three-member board, which “awards just compensation to victims for economic loss arising from violent crime.”
