Researcher wins grant to study treatment
of children exposed to abuse

Yo Jackson, associate professor of applied behavioral science and clinical child psychology, hopes to improve treatment for children exposed to trauma or abuse by studying youth who seem to be more resilient than others.

Museum studies students uncover Underground Railroad secrets
A museum exhibition showcasing the students’ work transforms visitors into historical detectives who must uncover the truth about the Underground Railroad in Douglas County. Students, instructors and Watkins Community Museum of History staff collaborated to design and fabricate “Hidden Slaves, Hidden History.”

‘Flamenco for Everyone’ invites public to experience captivating art form
“Flamenco for Everyone” will feature demonstrations of flamenco techniques by KU dance professor Michelle Heffner Hayes and guitarists Beau Bledsoe and Frank Hoffman. The public is invited to attend this free event at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Lawrence Arts Center, 940 New Hampshire St.

Professor’s work has broad reach
Capitol Federal Professor in Financial Markets and Institutions Robert DeYoung modestly claims he does the same things hundreds of other professors do everyday, but his efforts stretch further than many. DeYoung’s work makes an impact on national, regional, and local levels.

New bachelor's degree in business at Edwards Campus
The University of Kansas Edwards Campus in Overland Park will offer a new and unique bachelor’s degree program in business administration beginning in January, following action by the Kansas Board of Regents.

Business Minor program paying off
The KU School of Business’ Business Minor program has been paying off for me since I began the program in the spring 2008 semester. But I never thought the program, which will undoubtedly help me the rest of my life, would pay me back as quickly as it did on Sept. 22.

Career Fair provides student with important networking opportunities
Finding a job after graduation can be a daunting experience. As a December 2009 graduate, I am leaving no stone unturned in my search for a job in marketing or advertising. Although many big-name companies recruit from the University of Kansas, to find the available jobs it is important to take advantage of networking opportunities early on.

Real-life Informant agent to deliver Fall 2009 Chandler Lecture
Robert Herndon, Federal Bureau of Investigation agent and KU School of Business graduate, will deliver the Anderson Chandler Lecture, “Clues from the Convicts: Life Lessons on Character, Leadership, and Ethics from the files of the FBI,” at 7 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Lied Center of Kansas. Herndon was a key officer in the investigation that is now the basis for the Warner Bros. movie The Informant, starring Matt Damon.
