Greetings, Jayhawks!

In this special edition of KU Connection, we celebrate the selection of Bernadette Gray-Little as the 17th chancellor of the University of Kansas. Gray-Little, who will be the first woman and first African-American to lead KU, will begin her chancellorship on August 15. Barbara Atkinson, the executive vice chancellor of the KU Medical Center, will serve as interim chancellor starting July 1.

Here you can read about the Board of Regents' selection of Dr. Gray-Little on May 29. In her first appearance on campus the day after her selection, Gray-Little spoke about KU having "a sense of place and tradition," making it the right place at the right time. View photos and video of the University's welcome ceremony in this edition.

Perhaps Chancellor Hemenway summed up the feelings of all Jayhawks when he said, "Great universities make great hires, and Bernadette Gray-Little is a great choice. She'll be an excellent chancellor, and I congratulate her."

Warmest wishes from the Hill,
KU Alumni Association
