Graduates overcome obstacles to earn degrees
Long commutes, full-time careers, hospitalizations and injuries haven't been able to stop four graduates in the College from pursuing their degrees.

Phil Hofstra planned to skip the doctoral hooding ceremony until his wife, Jane Mobley, insisted he go through with it. He agreed, under one condition: she had to participate, too.

Two seniors who walked down the Hill stood out for their research, whether it was studying the jaw bone of dinosaurs or how culture affects parenting.

Passion for helping others motivates graduates

reorganization taking shape

On July 1, the reorganization of the School of Fine Arts will take effect. An interim dean has been named to the School of Music and an associate dean has been named to the School of the Arts.

KU design professor participates in international workshop to relocate a city
Lance Rake, professor of industrial design, recently returned from a two-week workshop, City Move Interdesign, where he worked with an international team, brainstorming proposals and ideas on how to successfully relocate a city.

KU music student wins a top Naftzger Young Artist prize
For the third year in a row, a KU music student has taken the top prize at the annual Naftzger Young Artists Competition, held at Wichita State University.

Lydia Beebe, l’77, Barry Halpern, l’73, and John Jurcyk Jr., l’57, received the Distinguished Alumni Award—the law school’s highest honor—during a ceremony May 2 at the Adams Alumni Center in Lawrence.

MetaJuris, a metasearch engine, simultaneously searches various legal databases for cases, statutes and literature citations.

Mark Parkinson, l'84, sworn in as Kansas Governor
Parkinson, 51, was sworn in after Gov. Kathleen Sebelius resigned to become secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in President Barack Obama’s Cabinet.

Three School of Law students have earned clerkships at Kansas City law firms this summer through a program aimed at increasing diversity in legal education and the legal profession.

Spring KU Law Magazine goes electronic
