The KU women's basketball program hopes to raise awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer when it takes part in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association's (WBCA) "Pink Zone" initiative on Sunday, Feb. 22.
Kansas will host Iowa State at 12 p.m. in a game where KU will wear pink and blue uniforms in an effort to raise breast cancer awareness. Kansas Athletics will donate $1 for every fan in attendance to support breast cancer treatment and research. In addition, head coach Bonnie Henrickson will donate $1 of her personal money for every KU student in attendance, making each student account for $2. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a free pink T-shirt courtesy of Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
Breast cancer survivors are invited to a pre-game reception in the Naismith Room. All survivors will be invited to gather on Naismith Court for recognition during a very special halftime presentation. For more information about the reception, please contact Jennifer Allee at 785.864.7963.
