Greetings, Jayhawks!

As the summer sun shines on Mount Oread, KU celebrates both academic and athletic advancements. In this issue, you'll read about an innovative new ovarian cancer drug developed by KU researchers as well as the excitement surrounding the University's pharmacy school expansion.

KU football facilities are new and improved, just in time for another remarkable gridiron season. As fans look forward to enjoying Memorial Stadium in a whole new way, they celebrate the record-setting selection of five former Jayhawks in the recent NBA Draft. But before the champions learned their fate in the professional league, they visited Washington, D.C., where they were honored by President Bush and visited wounded soldiers at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

In honor of the great sports tradition here, Lawrence earned a spot as one of 20 finalist cities in ESPN's TitleTown USA. After filming from Allen Fieldhouse June 28, the Lawrence segment aired on ESPN's SportsCenter Saturday, July 5. Fans can vote online July 23. Check the TitleTown USA Web site for future details.

We hope you enjoy this summer edition of KU Connection and we look forward to greeting you with more happenings from the Hill, starting with our back-to-school issue in August. Your opinions are important as we continue to refine KU Connection, so we welcome your comments and suggestions.

Warmest wishes from the Hill,
KU Alumni Association
