Jayhawks continue perfect football season

A historic 76-39 Homecoming victory over Nebraska, a candidate for coach of the year, a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe award, a Davey O’Brien semifinalist, four consecutive road wins, a 6-0 record in the Big 12, a perfect 10-0 overall record, and a BCS National Ranking of No. 3—it has been an extraordinary season of Jayhawk football!
Perfection continued in Stillwater last Saturday as our Jayhawks had a thrilling 43-28 win over Oklahoma State. Senior wide receiver Marcus Henry had eight catches for a career-high 199 yards and caught all three of sophomore Todd Reesing's touchdown passes. Senior running back Brandon McAnderson ran more than 100 yards on the ground for the third straight week, gaining 142 yards on 25 carries. On defense, Kansas forced four turnovers, including junior Aqib Talib's fourth interception of the season in the closing minutes to help secure the victory.

Last week also brought national recognition to Head Coach Mark Mangino, Talib and Reesing. Mangino is one of 16 coaches named to the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award Watch List for the 2007 College Football Coach of the Year, as well as one of 15 selected for the George Munger Award, which is presented by the Maxwell Football Club. Talib was named as one of 12 semifinalists for the Jim Thorpe Award, which is awarded annually to the nation’s top defensive back. Reesing was named one of 15 semifinalists for the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback Award.
