“Take your Professor to Lunch” program introduced
As part of KU’s Academic Success Week during Sept. 24-28, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences has introduced the “Take your Professor to Lunch” program. The year-round program was designed to facilitate personal interactions between students and teachers by offering a KU Dining Services meal voucher to any College student who wishes to escort a professor to lunch.
“We realize the College is a big place and that students may be hesitant to make a professor's acquaintance,” Dean Joseph Steinmetz said.
The program was established in response to research that shows students who establish an educational relationship with a faculty member outside of the classroom will be more successful in their collegiate experience.
Two days into its introduction, more than 20 KU students had signed up to participate in the program. The “Take your Professor to Lunch” program is made possible through generous contributions from College alumni and friends. Click here for more information.
