Campus improvements recently completed

A $3.5 million renovation of the southwest corner of Wescoe Hall had added 24,000 square feet for numerous academic offices, including the department of Spanish and Portuguese and the history department. The heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems throughout Wescoe also were improved with funding from the state’s five-year deferred maintenance plan, which begins to address critical needs at all Regents schools. The plan initially provides $32 million for the Lawrence campus, where the backlog of critical repairs has reached an estimated $181 million.

Another new campus feature is the new traffic booth at the corner of Jayhawk Boulevard and 14th Street. The booth provides attendants ample space to direct campus visitors to their destinations, not to mention more storage room to keep those volumes of excuses they've heard from desperate drivers attempting to enter a closed campus without a permit.
