Jayhawk alumni show true blue support

It's a trend that will make any Jayhawk smile: Loyal alumni and friends are helping to build a stronger university by donating to KU in growing numbers.

In fiscal year 2007, more than 43,200 generous alumni, friends and organizations made contributions to KU Endowment for KU. This compares to 41,000 donors in 2006.

The donors are tallied according to KU's fiscal year, which runs from July 1 through June 30.

Not surprisingly, the majority of KU's 2007 donors—23,680—live in Kansas. Missouri produces the second largest group, with 3,994 donors. Other states with high numbers of KU donors are Texas, with 1,653, California, 1,601, Colorado, 1,151, and Illinois, 1,071.

Increasingly, donors are supporting their crimson and blue allegiances by contributing online, a convenient and safe way to give. In fiscal year 2007, donors provided $220,535 through online gifts via www.kuendowment.org, compared to $191,026 in fiscal year 2006.
