Spring game gives fans a sneak peek at KU football
Last weekend, KU treated fans to a spirited spring football game. Some 8,200 Jayhawk fans witnessed the blue versus white scrimmage at Memorial Stadium.

"I liked what I saw here today," Head Coach Mark Mangino said after the game. "I liked how our blue team executed on offense and defense. We were able to test quarterbacks in some difficult situations, and they both did a very good job today. On defense, we played the run pretty well and we brought a tough mental edge to that side of the ball."

Sophomore quarterback Kerry Meier threw for 204 yards on 13-of-27 attempts, with one interception, while sophomore quarterback Todd Reesing finished the day 10-of-20 for 171 yards.

Senior running back Brandon McAnderson compiled 80 yards on 15 carries and two touchdowns. Senior wide receiver Marcus Henry scored three touchdowns on the afternoon with 150 yards on six receptions. Sophomore safety Darrell Stuckey completed the day with a 37-yard interception, good for a touchdown and three tackles.

Junior linebacker Joe Mortenson compiled a team high of 10 tackles, including three for a loss, while junior linebacker James Holt recorded four tackles and a team high of two sacks. Junior linebacker Mike Rivera added eight tackles, including one for a loss.

The Jayhawks open the 2007 football season against Central Michigan on Saturday, Sept. 1, at Memorial Stadium. KU will play eight home games this season, including battles against Big 12 rivals Nebraska, Iowa State and Baylor. KU will conclude the season Nov. 24, against Border Showdown opponent Missouri at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo.

Season tickets are $275. The Family Plan, which includes two adult and two youth general admission season tickets, costs just $350.  All season ticket packages include the Missouri game at Arrowhead, and KU season-ticket holders will receive first priority for KU's seats at Arrowhead. Fans can purchase their 2007 tickets online at www.kuathletics.com or by contacting the ticket office at 800-34-HAWKS.
