October Weekend combines Late Night, Hinrich, Collison and KU Football

October 13 marks the start of a packed weekend for Kansas Athletics that includes the tip-off of KU Basketball, a home football game, and an NBA preseason game featuring two Jayhawk stars.

Friday, Oct. 13
Late Night in the Phog

On Friday, the KU Basketball season tips off with the 22nd annual Late Night in the Phog.  Doors open at 6 p.m., and the fun begins at 6:45 p.m. This year will feature the slam-dunk antics of The Harlem Wizards with their world-class trick show and audience participation routines. Programming will also include videos, band and spirit squad performances, women's and men's basketball team introductions and scrimmages. Each fan will receive a Jayhawk Thunderstick courtesy of Late Night sponsor Peoples Bank. Food for Lawrence area pantries will also be collected at the door.

Saturday, Oct. 14
KU vs. Oklahoma State

Saturday, Mangino's men will take on Big 12 foe Oklahoma State. The Campanile Hill will be open for tailgates. Tailgating aficionados can reserve pre-game packages on the Hill, which include group tickets, catering, tent, chairs and special visits from the Jayhawk mascots, cheerleaders and KU pep band.

Alumni and fans can also stop by the climate-controlled Adams Alumni Center for the KU Alumni Association's Touchdown Tailgate. There will be food, drinks, plenty of KU company and TVs tuned into nationally televised games from across the country. Sunday, Oct. 15 Chicago Bulls vs. Seattle SuperSonics KU legends Kirk Hinrich and Nick Collison will return to the Allen Fieldhouse court. This time they will play against each other in a special Chicago Bulls and Seattle SuperSonics NBA preseason game. The action starts at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25-60 and can be ordered through Kansas Athletics at 800-34-HAWKS or online at kuathletics.com.
