Football Spring Scrimmage and Alumni Game set
for April 14

footballHead Coach Mark Mangino and the KU football team invite all Jayhawk fans to the 2006 Spring Scrimmage at 7 p.m. on April 14 in Memorial Stadium.  Prior to the scrimmage, many former KU football players will return to Lawrence to participate in the Third Annual Alumni Game, which kicks off at 5 p.m.  Both events are free to the public.

"Friday will be a lot of fun for KU football fans," said Mangino.  "They will have the opportunity to watch the 2006 team scrimmage and see their favorite players from the past perform in Memorial Stadium."

Before the games, football fans can enjoy free food (while supplies last) hosted by the KU Alumni Association and Kansas Athletics. The first 5,000 fans will also receive a mini Jayhawk football.

In addition to the game, the marching band and the spirit squad will perform, and a television crew from Fox Sports Net will film the scrimmage. Footage will be used in a 30-minute Spring Game special, which will air several times throughout the summer. After the scrimmage, fans can meet and greet selected KU football players.

Earlier Friday, a luncheon will honor long time football secretaries Marge Hazlett and Carole Hadl at 1 p.m. at the Eldridge Hotel. Cost of the luncheon is $15 and space is limited.  Contact Kansas Athletics at 785-864-3196 for more information.
