KUATHLETICS.com to host online auctions throughout summer
The University of Kansas athletics department conducted its first online auction Friday, June 24, on kuathletics.com. Throughout the summer, the athletics department will host several auctions that will include autographed merchandise, game-worn jerseys, framed pictures of KU legends, and items from historic Allen Fieldhouse.
Items up for the first auction ran seven days. Included were sections of the center scoreboard recently removed from Allen Fieldhouse, auxiliary scoreboards from the Fieldhouse, one basketball rim from the historic facility and jerseys worn by former football and men's basketball student-athletes. Fans can check kuathletics.com throughout the summer to participate in the auctions.
"With Allen Fieldhouse getting a facelift for the upcoming year, this is a great way for Kansas fans to own a piece of history," said Andrew Steinberg, assistant athletics director for marketing.
Items and opening minimum bids will be placed on the site. Each item will be auctioned over a period of time.
