KU Athletics announces football season ticket payment plan

The athletics department is providing KU fans the opportunity to purchase their 2005 football season tickets and spread the payments into three easy monthly installments. Fans may participate the plan by downloading the Football Season Ticket Payment Plan form (available at kuathletics.com) or by calling the KU ticket office by July 16. The first payment is due when tickets are ordered, and the final two installments will be due in August and September.

"We are excited to give our fans an additional option when purchasing their 2005 football season tickets," said Jim Marchiony, sssociate athletics director "We have an outstanding seven game home schedule and this plan will make it easier for our fans to enjoy the upcoming season."

A reserved season ticket package for Kansas' seven home football games is $225, which includes six games at KU's Memorial Stadium and KU's game against the Oklahoma Sooners in Arrowhead Stadium. Family Plans are available for just $300 and include two adult and two youth general admission tickets to each contest in Memorial Stadium, and two tickets to the Arrowhead game. Both ticket packages are eligible for the payment plan.

Charles Gordon named to Blue Ribbon College Football All-America Team

Kansas junior cornerback Charles Gordon has been named to the Blue Ribbon College Football Yearbook All-America Team, which the publication released Wednesday.

Listed as a defensive back on the preseason team, Gordon led the Big 12 Conference and tied for the NCAA Division I lead with seven interceptions last season in earning first-team all-conference (DB) and third-team All-America honors in 2004. The Carson, Calif., native caught 15 passes and scored two touchdowns for the Jayhawks in his sophomore campaign, earning honorable mention All-Big 12 accolades as a wide receiver by the league coaches.

Additionally, Gordon enters his third season at KU only five yards shy of becoming the school's all-time punt return yards leader. He currently has 601 career punt return yards.

For the second consecutive year, USC quarterback Matt Leinart, winner of the 2004 Heisman Trophy, is Blue Ribbon's Offensive Player of the Year. North Carolina State defensive lineman Mario Williams, who played for the top-ranked defensive unit in the country last season, is Blue Ribbon's Defensive Player of the Year.

Kansas-Iowa State game pushed back one week

The KU-Iowa State football game originally scheduled for Nov. 19 has been moved to Saturday, Nov. 26, Big 12 Conference officials have announced. FoxSports Net will broadcast the game live from Memorial Stadium in Lawrence. Kickoff against the Cyclones is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

"The Big 12 Conference and FoxSports approached both schools and asked us to move the game so it could be broadcast on television," said Larry Keating, senior associate athletics director, "We see this as a great opportunity to get additional national exposure for our football program."
