There’s a new logo on the Hill, another important step in the process toward a new University visual identity system. Meantime, a familiar KU symbol is headed to Iraq, presented by Chancellor Hemenway with the hope that it will serve as a daily reminder of KU’s support and pride in Kansas soldiers preparing for deployment.

Allen Fieldhouse is getting a facelift, and some of its remnants will be for sale throughout the summer as part of KU Athletics’ new online auctions. A new entrance to the hallowed building will house memorabilia from KU’s storied past, and alumni and fans can be a part of it by purchasing their own engraved granite paver outside the Booth Family Hall of Athletics.

And there’s a new building preparing for its grand opening Aug. 11-12. Jayhawk Central will be your place for all things Jayhawk on KU’s Edwards Campus in Overland Park, and will house the campus student union. Help celebrate with KU Athletics Night on Thursday, Aug. 11, featuring appearances by women’s basketball coach Bonnie Henrickson, Big Jay, the KU Cheerleaders and lots of giveaways! Alumni Association members: Bring your membership card and receive a free gift! It all begins at Regnier Hall auditorium at 5:30 p.m.

On Aug. 12, bring your family and friends for a FREE picnic and bluegrass concert by the Midday Ramblers. The picnic begins at 6:30 p.m. at Jayhawk Central, followed by the concert in Regnier Hall auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Come celebrate KU in Kansas City!

Warmest wishes from the Hill,
