'Hawks overcome Texas, Mizzou; Stallworth jersy hangs in rafters
The Jayhawks are off to a perfect start 8-0 start in conference play and recently recorded impressive home victories over Texas and Missouri and a road victory at Nebraska!

Kansas 90, Texas 65
The KU men's basketball team shot 50 percent in the game to defeat visiting Texas, 90-65, Jan. 29 in Allen Fieldhouse. Senior Wayne Simien scored a season-high 27 points on 11-of-17 shooting from the field.
The Jayhawk defense held the Longhorns to just 37 percent shooting and forced 20 turnovers that resulted in 29 Kansas points.
Senior Keith Langford added 17 points and five assists, while fellow senior Aaron Miles also scored in double-figures with 10 points and a game-high eight assists. Sophomore J.R. Giddens scored 10 points and dished out a career-high five assists.
“Our guys were great tonight," Kansas head coach Bill Self said. "We executed great against the zone and defended well the entire game.”

ESPN's College GameDay brought its traveling show to Allen Fieldhouse for three shows that showcased the matchup between KU and Texas. The GameDay show was set in the trophy case area in the east lobby of Allen Fieldhouse, where the long heritage of KU basketball was on display.
Kansas 73, Missouri 61
The Jayhawks trailed visiting Missouri 36-28 at halftime, but KU shot 58 percent in the second half to claim round one of the 2005 Border Showdown, 73-61, Jan. 31 at Allen Fieldhouse.
Senior Wayne Simien led four Jayhawks in double-figures with a game-high 22 points. Simien also added a game-high eight rebounds. Sophomore J.R. Giddens added 15 points, while senior Aaron Miles recorded his first double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 assists. Fellow senior Keith Langford rounded out double-figure scorers with 11.
"We played very bad in the first half," Kansas head coach Bill Self said. "At halftime it was like we flipped a switch and came out to play very well in the second half.”

During halftime of the game, KU legend Bud Stallworth’s jersey was retired and now hangs in the south end of Allen Fieldhouse along with other KU basketball greats.
Kansas 78, Nebraska 65
KU shot 53 percent from the field to propel the Jayhawks to a 78-65 victory over Nebraska Feb. 5 at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln. Senior Keith Langford led all scorers and tied a career-high with 27 points.
KU shot 62 percent from field in the second half to pull away for the victory.
Senior Wayne Simien scored 18 points on 9-of-13 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds en route to his eighth double-double of the season. Senior Aaron Miles scored eight points and dished out seven assists, while junior Christian Moody scored eight points and snagged 6 rebounds.

Senior Michael Lee came off the bench to score eight points in the win.
"We played really well and we were very efficient today," Kansas head coach Bill Self said. "Keith (Langford) got off to a great start and that opened it up for everybody and Wayne (Simien) continues to play well for us." |
