Football
season offers special events on and off the field
The 2004 Jayhawk football season kicks off against
the Tulsa Hurricanes Sept. 4, when fans will get their
first glimpse of the KU Marching Band's new uniforms-the
first new look since 1978.
KU will celebrate Band Day and Family Weekend Sept.
11, when the Jayhawks face Toledo in a 6 p.m. kickoff.
The annual Band Day parade will stream down Masssachusetts
Street at 1:30 p.m. The 'Hawks will square off against
the K-State Wildcats at Homecoming, Oct. 9, a weekend
full of reunions and other special activities.
The KU Game Day on the Hill experience includes responsible
pre-game tailgating, made possible by "Proud to
be a Jayhawk" fundraising. Fans can participate
by purchasing football programs; $1 of every program
sold will go to a group of beneficiaries; KU's Korean
War Memorial Fund, KU Spirit Squad, KU sports clubs
and the Nichols League student leadership fund.
Please remember when you tailgate:
Alcohol may be consumed only during a three-hour
pre-game period in designated parking lots.
Alcohol may not be brought into the stadium.
Underage drinking or unlawful conduct will not be tolerated.
