Nurse Residency Program Celebrates First Year


The Nurse Residency Program, an innovative partnership between the KU School of Nursing and The University of Kansas Hospital, celebrated completion of its first year with a dinner on June 10. The yearlong program provides specialized training that helps new bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) graduates gain confidence treating complex cases, making critical decisions and delivering specialized care.

KU boosts tuition help for students in need

KU is increasing its undergraduate tuition grants by 50 percent during the 2004-05 school year. Undergraduate students in greatest need could each receive annual grants of as much as $1,500, a $500 increase from the 2003-04 school year. In all, $5.16 million will be devoted to the tuition grants for undergraduate and graduate students. Read more.

KU Medical Center names David Adkins vice chancellor for external affairs

The University of Kansas Medical Center has named David Adkins to a new position as vice chancellor for external affairs.

Adkins will report to Executive Vice Chancellor Donald F. Hagen, and will oversee alumni and community relations, the staff of KU Med magazine, health and technology outreach, and continuing education at the Med Center. He will also work closely with other KU staff in the areas of government relations and University marketing. Read more.
