Diners at Wescoe Terrace, located on the ground floor of Wescoe Hall facing Malott Hall, will find more food selections and more places to sit next fall after renovations expand the campus' most popular dining establishment.

Michael Myers, assistant director of food services for the KU Memorial Unions, said Wescoe Terrace would expand to include a food court, coffee shop, convenience store and additional seating. The food court is slated to feature sushi and Asian cuisine, a sandwich option, Pizza Hut, Chick-Fil-A, a salad bar and beverage center.

The changes will close the establishment beginning May 14. Myers said the grand opening is expected to coincide with the first day of fall classes, Aug. 19. Myers said local architecture firm Gould Evans Associates would design the new area.

Other recent food service additions on campus include a coffee cart at Anschutz Library, a hot dog cart on Wescoe Beach and the Fast Break snack bar in the new Student Recreation Fitness Center. All three opened last fall.

Meanwhile, KU is blending the food service operations now separately managed by the KU Memorial Unions and the Department of Student Housing. The reorganization will provide expanded catering services, delivery capabilities and hours of service.
