Lost-and-found windows now gleam in Wescoe

Kim Wilcox, dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, looks at a pair of stained-glass windows that recently were installed near the east entrance of Wescoe Hall.

The windows —one depicting Socrates and the other Plato —originally were donated to the University in the 1930s and displayed in the Spooner Hall Art Museum through 1978. They were put into storage when the art museum moved and Spooner Hall was converted to the Museum of Anthropology. In the ensuing 25 years, the windows were stored for lack of a display area and later were misplaced.

Found in 2002, the windows were installed outside of the philosophy department and were dedicated Nov. 5.
