Historic Mount Oread Fund Underwrites
10 New Articles for This Week In KU History
The Historic Mount Oread Fund has voted to donate
$11,000 to the This Week In KU History website
project.
The contribution will underwrite the generation
of 10 new articles about aspects of campus architectural
history, including Prairie Acre, the old KU Power
House that is now being renovated into the new
home of the Hall Center for the Humanities, Pioneer
Cemetery, Twente Hall, Marvin Grove, the KU Chancellor's
residence known as "the Outlook," Old
Blake Hall, Lindley Hall, Watkins and Miller Scholarship
Halls, and KU's "Red Roof Rule."
These ten articles will join a current collection
of 27 articles about campus architecture and landscape
features already online at This Week In KU History.
"This Week In KU History is more than just
a web site, it is a pioneering initiative in the
development and delivery of online history to
an educated general audience," said Marilyn
Gridley, president of Historic Mount Oread Fund.
"We are delighted to provide this project
with support that will enhance its content while
furthering our own mission of educating the general
public about the importance of historic preservation
on KU's campus."
The collection of new articles will be unveiled
by early 2004.
