KU dance program wins prestigious grant

The dance program in the School of Fine Arts has been awarded a grant to support the restaging of "Missa Brevis," originally choreographed by José Limón and being restaged at KU by Sarah Stackhouse. The University Dance Company will present the work during its fall concert Nov. 21-22 at the Lied Center.

A national panel of artists, college faculty and dance presenters recommended 35 awards to universities in 35 cities and 28 states across the country to aid new works and reconstructions in modern, ballet, tap, swing, jazz and Latin dance. Music faculty James Barnes, f'74, g'75, Robert Foster and Charles Hoag are plenty busy in Murphy Hall, and they continue to make their presence known to the national music community.
