KU announces new nursing specialty tracks

Nurses who want to advance their careers will find three new master's-level specialty tracks at the School of Nursing. The school is now offering new programs that will prepare nurses in healthcare informatics, public health nursing and organizational leadership.

The healthcare informatics curriculum develops skills in analysis, design, implementation and evaluation of information systems that support a full range of clinical and patient care functions. Much attention has deservedly been focused in the State of Kansas (the Greater Kansas City area) on our development as a center for Life Science research. What hasn't received as much attention is that nursing research is a large part of this initiative.

Nursing research comprises both basic and clinical research to establish a scientific basis for the care of individuals across the life span. We study the management of patients during illness and recovery, the reduction of risks for disease and disability and promotion of healthy lifestyles. Read More
