Rock Chalk Roadshow

The Rock Chalk Roadshow will be taking the KU story to 53 high schools and community colleges in central and western Kansas during the first week of September.

Six staff members from the Office of Admissions and Scholarships will hit the road in two vans beginning Sept. 7. They will pull up to their last stop on the way home Sept. 13 in Hutchinson, just in time for the 2 p.m. KU Pep Rally at the Kansas State Fair.

The passenger list will include one of Mount Oread's highest profile denizens—Baby Jay.

KU admissions staff members see the tour as a chance to get a jump start on the recruiting season and to make new friends across the state.

"Central and western Kansas are important sources of future Jayhawks. We have not fully tapped western Kansas in the past— but that's changing," said Lisa Pinamonti, director of admissions and scholarships.

At most high schools and community colleges, the KU staff will drop by for informal daytime visits. Evening presentations will be held at the Salina Holiday Inn on Sept. 7, at Great Bend High School on Sept. 8, at Dodge City High School on Sept. 9, at Garden City High School on Sept. 10, and at Hays High School on Sept. 11. Times will be announced later in advertisements in those communities.

The KU roadshow crew will be loaded down with information on KU's excellent academic programs and national rankings, financial aid, scholarships and more.
