Issue 18, July 2003

This issue highlights new beginnings: The long-awaited opening of the Dole Institute of Politics and the arrival of athletics director Lew Perkins mark new eras at the University. Individual Jayhawks, including Rhodes Scholar Robert Chamberlain and Miss Kansas, also begin new chapters in their lives.

New from the Alumni Association this month are keepsakes from the Jayhawks on Parade, a unique display of 30 full-sized fiberglass mascots throughout the KU campus and the city of Lawrence. Our KU Connection contest offers you the chance to win a copy of our commemorative book or art print, or you can purchase copies for Jayhawk family members and friends. Even if you can't visit Lawrence to view the parade this summer or fall, you can treasure the festive flock for years to come.

Warmest wishes from the Hill —
