May
16-18 marks the 131st
Commencement proceedings for the University. The
Kansas Alumni Association congratulates the Class of
2003, and welcomes its members as alumni. Our promise
to new graduates has remained constant throughout our
120 years: The Association will offer information, events
and programs to help alumni maintain their KU ties and
remain part of the University community.
New technology enables us to fulfill this promise in
exciting, efficient ways. We have just launched the
first Official Online Alumni and Member Directory,
which lists information on all degree-holders and Association
members. We invite you to visit www.kualumni.org to view and update your official
alumni profile, and tell us what information you want
displayed. Your ID number is affixed to this greeting,
you will need it to register. After July 1, Alumni
Association members will have the ability to search
the directory. Non-members can view and update their
official University profile, and everyone has the option
not to participate. Please take a few extra moments
to fill in the career information. With your assistance
we will develop additional alumni career networking
opportunities, another way to take advantage of your
KU experience.
The award-winning Kansas Alumni magazine is now
available online. For a short time, it is available
to both members and non-members; beginning July 1 it
will be reserved for members only. Once again we invite
you to www.kualumni.org to read the latest KU news and catch up with classmates.
We also hope you'll participate in our other online
services.
KU Connection is another way we deliver on our traditional
promise. We hope you enjoy our design changes, including
a new section, KU Schools.
Over the coming months we will develop a rotation of
school-specific news to allow for a closer look at these
particular academic units. Of course, we'll continue
our usual array of other University and alumni news.
And for some fun in this issue, we offer you the chance
to be the first on your block to own a Bill Self-autographed
Jayhawk basketball in our KU
Connection contest.
We hope current Alumni Association members enjoy the
additional online benefits. For non-members, there is
no better time to join
the Association and let us help you stay involved
in the life of your University. Collectively, KU alumni
and friends can help ensure that future Jayhawk generations
enjoy the same great experiences we cherish.
Warmest wishes from the Hill
The Kansas Alumni Association
