Another Jayhawk to lead Regents

Reggie Robinson

The president's chair at the Kansas Board of Regents office in Topeka continues to be filled by those of the crimson and blue persuasion.

Chancellor Robert Hemenway's chief of staff, Reggie Robinson, c'80, l'87, has been named the regents' president and chief executive officer, succeeding Kim Wilcox, who was a KU chair and professor and the chancellor's special counsel for strategic initiatives before joining the regents in 1998.

Wilcox left the regents this summer to return to Mount Oread as dean of the KU College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Now it is Robinson's turn to depart Jayhawk Boulevard to manage the regents system. The regents govern the six state universities and coordinate all of public higher education, including 19 community colleges, 10 technical schools and colleges, and Washburn University.

Robinson joined the chancellor's staff in 1998; he also returned to teaching in the School of Law, where he had been honored earlier in his career for his talent as a student adviser. In Strong Hall, he has been responsible for organizing the chancellor's cabinet and for advising the chancellor on key policy matters. He previously served in the U.S. Department of Justice in several senior executive positions and was selected as a White House Fellow in 1993.
