Kiplinger's bullish on KU quality, cost
KU keeps showing up on the book and magazine racks.
Following on the heels of the Kaplan Insider's Guide to the
320 Most Interesting Colleges in July, the Fiske Guide to
Colleges in
August and U.S. News' America's Best Colleges in September,
the October issue of Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine
has hit the stands with good news for KU
Kiplinger's ranks the University 28th in the nation in best
values in public colleges and one of nine of the best bargains
for out-of-state tuition in an exclusive survey published
in its October 2002 issue.
Comparing cost, quality and financial aid, Kiplinger's editors
put KU in the top 30 in a list of 100 best values in public
colleges in the nation. The cost analysis of KU included its
fall 2002 tuition rate. Four years ago KU was ranked 48th
on the same list.
The magazine further lists KU as one of nine bargains for
out-of-state students with tuition costs of less than $18,000.
KU out-of-state tuition is $10,686.50 for two semesters; with
other expenses such as room and board, total cost is about
$17,092 a year.
"In these tight economic times people are looking for
a university that offers both high quality and reasonable
cost," said Janet Murguia, KU executive vice chancellor
for university relations. "We're pleased to see Kiplinger's
confirm KU's national reputation."
