We welcome you to this edition of KU Connection with a call
to action for Kansas City area football fans, important information
about new online services, and the latest stories from the
Hill.
First, for Jayhawk football fans: The Kansas City chapter
needs your help to welcome Coach Mark Mangino Sunday, July
14, at the chapter's annual summer picnic-the biggest Jayhawk
event of the summer. Dress in your picnic wear and bring the
whole family; please
click here to make your reservations no later than Friday,
July 12.
Second, as the Kansas Alumni Association continues to develop
online services, we want to pay special attention to privacy
issues concerning e-mail. The Association supports a worldwide
network of volunteers who operate official alumni chapters
in key cities and organize various events throughout the year.
E-mail now enables the Association and these chapter leaders
to spread the word quickly and easily about KU events, but
we want to use it only for those alumni who prefer Internet
communications. If you would like to read more about our Internet
initiatives, please click here.
Finally, we hope you enjoy this edition of KU Connection.
As you will see, our faculty, students and alumni continue
to reflect the strength of the University and the resolve
of its graduates. Their stories make us all proud to be Jayhawks.
Best wishes from the Hill-
The Kansas Alumni Association

Thanks to the "Fighting Jayhawk," KU raised
more than $40,000 for the Families of Freedom Scholarship
Fund to provide educational assistance for family members
of victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. The "Fighting
Jayhawk" mascot of 1941-46 was revived on T-shirts
sold on campus and at sporting events with proceeds
going to the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund. See
the check presentation to Bob Dole here.
