 Kansas Relays Turn 75

The Kansas Relays marks its 75th anniversary Wednesday, April 17, through Saturday, April 20. This year's event features a speech by Olympic gold medalist Billy Mills, the hall of fame induction of track letterman Deon Hogan and an appearance by world-record holder and Kansas native Maurice Greene. More than 4,000 athletes and 15,000 fans will come to Memorial Stadium for the diamond anniversary of this track and field carnival.

One of the "big five" college relay events, the Kansas Relays has witnessed a tremendous rebirth in the last past three years and is again receiving national attention.

"The Kansas Relays is one of the brightest jewels in KU's crown, so this symbol of the diamond anniversary is most fitting," said meet director Tim Weaver. "We will have high school champions from nine states, plus half of the Big 12 teams competing at the event, the most diverse field in our history. With our alumni reunions, Olympic athletes and Jayhawks defending their home track, this should be a meet to remember."
